Al abuelo Kïma Baijï, un famoso curandero, lo brujean y queda enfermo, con la barriga inflada. Aún así, deja su maloca y emprende camino para llevar un encargo a la cauchería donde trabaja su tribu, en lo profundo de la selva amazónica. Allí se encuentra con Tïzi, el Hombre-esqueleto, un temible y poderoso espíritu que, a cambio de un poco de mambe y ambil, lo cura y además le revela el secreto para una buena cacería. Entrando en sus sueños, Tïzi le advierte que no debe cazar más de cinco perdices cada noche; de lo contrario, al abuelo podría ocurrirle una desgracia. Grandfather Kïma Baijï, a famous healer, is put under a spell and becomes sick, with a swollen belly. Even so, he leaves his maloca and sets out to take an order to the rubber factory where his tribe works, deep in the Amazon jungle. There he meets Tïzi, the Skeleton-Man, a fearsome and powerful spirit who, in exchange for a little mambe and ambil, heals him and also reveals the secret to a good hunt. Entering his dreams, Tïzi warns him that he must not hunt more than five partridges a night; Otherwise, a misfortune could happen to the grandfather.
